What to ask your psychiatrist
What to ask your psychiatrist
View a useful checklist of questions to ask your psychiatrist about your condition, treatment and care.
Content Editor [1]
The Royal College of Psychiatrists has developed a useful
checklist
for mental health service users to use when they go to see their psychiatrist (doctor).
The checklist suggests some questions you may want to ask them about your illness or condition and your care and treatment plan.
You may be able to ask some of these questions to other members of the team who are involved in your care, such as your care coordinator if you have one.
Not everyone will need answers to all of these questions but it may be helpful to print the checklist out and take it with you to your appointment, or make a note of the questions you'd like answers to.
You can view and print the checklist on the
Royal College of Psychiatrists website
.
